New Year, New Way With Mommy And Me Planners
New Year, new ways to solve problems and make life easier… especially with baby number three on the way. One solution… Mommy and Me Planners!
I am sure there are many moms who can relate. Whether you are a mom of 1 or 10… kids are constantly asking:
What day/month is it?
When is the party?
Are we going to the aquarium?
When is Halloween?
Etc… (can you relate)?
Personally this drives me crazy! I will tell them what day/month it is. For everything else, I have resorted to not telling them what events are coming up or I answer all of their questions with… “it’s a surprise.” This has served a dual purpose as I don’t have to deal with the heartbreak if plans are canceled.
My Girls Are Growing Up…
However, as much as I hate to admit it, my girls are growing up. They are in elementary school and I am frequently encouraged by their teachers to keep a calendar at home for them to learn the days, weeks, months and years. To do this, I put a family calendar on the wall. Unfortunately, I quickly learned that it is not easily visible to my girls because they are too short. Lowering it would be the next logical step, but it will then clash with the décor of the room so it’s not an option. Talk about little kid vs mom problems… lol!
I knew I needed to find another way which is why I was so excited when I learned about the Erin Condren Kids Planner. You see… a friend of mine introduced me to the Erin Condren Life Planner about 3 years ago and I was hooked! I love how customizable it is and that you can see what’s coming up in a monthly view and a weekly view. By using this planner, my time management and productivity has definitely increased. I also enjoy the stickers that come with the planner because yes… you are never too old for stickers! So when I was in the process of purchasing my 2020 Planner and saw that they released a Kids Planner, I knew it was the solution I was looking for.
Mommy and Me Planners
After searching the site, I decided to get matching “Mommy and Me” planners. To do this, I selected my planner then ordered a customizable, interchangeable cover for my daughters’ to match (there is only one cover option for the Kids Planner). I also ordered custom Planner Folios so that they can keep their pens/pencils and other important items with the planner. Since my daughters always ask to have the same things as me, I knew that matching planners would encourage them to use the planner often. And… to make the planners more special, the planners were a special mommy and me gift from Santa.
In all honesty, I did not need to do much to sell my daughters on using the planner. The Kids Planner truly makes organizing fun. With a 6 year old who is learning how to read and write and an 8 year old that is reading and writing beyond her expected level, the planner appeals to them both. They both love placing the stickers and doing the activities in the planner. My 6 year old loves every opportunity she gets to write so the writing prompts and filling in the calendar are fun. My 8 year old loves to read so she was super excited for the space to keep her reading log as well as the goal settings area. As a mom, I love that there are sections to write down their morning and evening routines and monthly birthdays.
Mommy and Me Planners… A Win-Win for Mommy and Daughters
The mommy and me planners from Erin Condren were truly a perfect gift for my girls and I and I highly recommend it! The girls now wake up and open their planners to see what day/date/month it is. They have made it a habit to write down our upcoming activities and events. In turn, this has reduced the number of times I get asked the same question a million times. It also allows us to spend more quality time together working on our planners. As a WAHM, this is a win-win because it gives me time to get my day/week planned. But more important, baby #3 will be here before we know it and our normal routine will change. The planners will help maintain a sense of normalcy and knowing whats going on.
Tell me… what are some ways you help your child/ren stay organized?
