Mami’s Truth: I Am So Much More

I don’t know why… but when I first came across the quote above, I stopped in my tracks. It resonated with me so much and touched me to my core. Why? Maybe it is because I feel that when people see me now, they think of me as only a mother and they do not see the rest of me. It could be that I myself have forgotten who I am since becoming a mother and becoming wrapped up in the lives of my daughters. I know that I am not the only one that feels like this and I know that I am sooooo much more!!!

Who AM I?

I am a daughter and a sister.

I am a wife and a mother (Actually… I am a mama bear).

I am a Latina and not a stereotype.

I am an educated woman and a medical professional (a Pathologists’ Assistant to be exact).

I am a dancer (I can’t hear music and sit still… it’s not possible)

I am an entrepreneur and a role model.

I am one to step out of my comfort zone (even though there might be some hesitation).

I am funny and creative.

I am authentic and honest (my face just does not lie very well).

I am caring and kind.

I am determined and passionate.

I am strong.

I am independent.

I am a survivor because I have overcome adversity throughout my entire life.

But I am human….

I am not perfect.

I am one to make mistakes.

I am an ocean of emotion.

I am a creature of habit and change is not always easy for me.

I am a control freak because I do not like not knowing.

I am not one to trust easily.

I am one to make myself physically sick from stress (and I am working on controlling that).

I am learning to love my body.

I am an optimist, a pessimist and a realist (it just depends on the day).

I am scared of what the future holds and excited all at the same time.

I am ME…

I am confident in my abilities.

I am a resource to those around me.

I am going to continue to follow my passion of helping others.

I am going to change the world.

But…

I am so much more!

I am all of the above and so much more. I am more than what you read on my about me page. I am so much more than what you and I see on the outside AND I am going to make sure I tell myself that EVERYDAY. So today I remind you that people are more than what you see on the outside. I also ask you to remember who you are.
